It was the second match against an NCAA DI program for the Wolf Pack, who will face No. 10 Xavier on Saturday
NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans men's tennis team traveled across the city to face the University of New Orleans on Thursday, with UNO taking the match 7-0.
Loyola has opened the spring schedule with two tough matches against NCAA Division I programs, UNO and Nicholls State. The Wolf Pack are now 2-0, while the Privateers are off to a 7-0 start this season.
In doubles play, the Privateers had wrapped up the doubles point after victories on Courts 1 and 3, but the team of Aubin Duchier and Remus Hebhang-Balan put up a fight at No. 2 doubles. The Wolf Pack duo jumped out to an early 4-2 advantage before dropping the match 7-6 (7-4).
New Orleans won every singles match in straight sets.
Another challenge awaits the Wolf Pack in the Crescent City on Saturday. The Loyola men's and women's tennis squads will head to crosstown rival Xavier for a match at noon at the XULA Tennis Center. Xavier's men's team is ranked No. 10 in the NAIA.
