Madisyn Acosta made her track and field NAIA National Championship debut on Wednesday, running the 1,500-meter race
GULF SHORES, Ala. – Loyola track and field junior Madisyn Acosta was the first of three Wolf Pack student-athletes to compete at the NAIA National Championships this week. The New Orleans native made her second appearance at a collegiate national championship after already running in the Women's Cross Country National Championship race last fall.
Acosta participated in the 1,500-meter preliminaries on Wednesday, taking 20th place to cap off a successful season. She ran a time of 4:56.36, which was the fourth-best time in program history. She now owns the Top 4 times in program history, too, owning the school record as well.
At the national championship, she ran the first 700 meters in 2:17.61 before getting clocked at 3:34.46 after 1,100 meters. Loyola will have two more compete at the national meet this week, as Bryana Bazile (discus) and Kaitlyn Becnel (high jump) are set for their appearances at the NAIA National Championship on Friday.
