The Wolf Pack track and field teams brought a few athletes to Baton Rouge Friday, beginning their indoor seasons competing against NCAA Division I programs
BATON ROUGE– The Loyola University New Orleans indoor track and field programs started its seasons in Baton Rouge on Friday, competing at the LSU Purple Tiger Invitational. Loyola only had four participating at the Carl Maddox Field House on LSU's campus, but it was a good start to the season nonetheless.
Braddock Lord was one of the highlights of the day, running his fourth-place, 60-meter-hurdle time in 9.13 seconds to record the best time in school history. According to the Loyola track and field record book, one other Wolf Pack student-athlete has competed in the 60-meter hurdles, with that time in 2016 registered at 9.33 by Malcolm Pitchford.
The Wolf Pack had three participants in the 200-meter event, and Aaron McFadden led the way with a second-place finish and a time of 24.21. Lord finished one position behind with a 24.57 time and Cameron Johnson was fifth after running a 25.62. Johnson also ran in the 400-meter run, finishing in fourth place with a time of 56.90, and McFadden was timed at 7.32 in the 60-meter dash to place 15th in the stacked 20-man field.
The Loyola men's and women's indoor teams are scheduled to compete again next weekend, traveling to the Samford Open in Birmingham, Alabama, Saturday.
