Meral earns SSAC Golfer of the Week honors Tuesday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Senior Sarah Meral turned in a career-best performance last week at the Carey Collegiate, and she was awarded on Tuesday the Southern States Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week title.

It's the third SSAC weekly award of her career.

Meral posted a 54-hole tournament score of 217 (+1), with rounds of 75, 70, and 72, to win the event by five strokes. It was the best three-round tournament score of her career, and the third-best score in Loyola women's golf program history. Her second-round 70 (-2) was a tournament-low in a field that was made up of golfers from No. 3 Dalton State, No. 9 William Carey, No. 13 Lindsey Wilson and No. 14 Cumberland.

The Abita Springs, Louisiana, has three career individual medalist honors in her three-year Wolf Pack career, which is tied for the second most in program history. One more win for the senior would tie her for the program record.
