PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The 18th-ranked Loyola Wolf Pack traveled to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, this week to take part in the Keiser University-hosted PDI Shootout at PGA National. The women's tournament is being held on the property's Fazio Course, and the 15-team field includes five other NAIA Top 25 programs.
Loyola ended Day 1 in a tie for 10th place with a team score of 640 (+64), but the team is within a couple of strokes of the Top 8 on the team leaderboard. Individually, Sarah Meral leads the Wolf Pack in a tie for 11th (+7) after rounds of 72 and 79.
Meral started her first round on the fourth tee with eight straight pars before moving to 1-over after nine holes. Four straight pars came after that before the Abita Springs, Louisiana, native drained a birdie putt on the par-5 17th to get back to even par. Four more pars finished her morning round. Her second round in the afternoon featured 12 more pars with a handful of bogeys and one double bogey sprinkled throughout her card.
Anni Eberhardt was next for the Wolf Pack in a tie for 37th (+14) after rounds of 76 and 82. The freshman was even par after seven holes, but a four-over finish during her final 11 holes got Eberhardt to her score in the morning. She found a little bit more trouble during her afternoon round, but she's still four shots outside the Top 25 on the individual leaderboard.
Freshman Alice Bille shot an 81 in the morning and a 79 in the afternoon to finish the first two rounds in a tie for 45th (+16). Evie Sisk is in 77th (+27), and Shauna Seifried is in 82nd (+35).
