Distance runners enter Loyola record book at Texas Invitational

More Wolf Pack student-athletes will compete Friday at South Alabama

AUSTIN, Texas — Connor Meigs, Jace Luckoski and Jacob Kennedy entered the Loyola University New Orleans men's track and field record book Thursday for their performances at the Texas Invitational.
 

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Meigs' time of 9 minutes, 49.26 seconds is third in Loyola's new-era records (1996-present), and Luckoski's 9:49.74 is fourth. Kennedy's 15:49.62 is No. 4 at 5,000 meters.
 

Freshman Adam Merkle produced a career-best 4:07.11 in the 1,500. 
 

Five Loyola men competed in three distance events at Texas. Additional Wolf Pack athletes will compete on Friday in the Jaguar Invitational at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Field events will start at 11:30 a.m., and track events will start at 4:30 p.m.
 

Results

3,000M Steeplechase: 6, Connor Meigs, 9:49.26. 7, Jace Luckoski, 9:49.74.
1,500M: 17, Aubrey Gibson, 4:03.68. 23, Adam Merkle, 4:07.11.
5,000M: 7, Jacob Kennedy, 15:49.62.
