ELMWOOD, La. – The Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team finished up the regular season Thursday afternoon with two home matches against an NCAA Division-I program, the Nicholls State University Colonels. Loyola won both matchups, 4-1 in the first and 3-2 in the second.Â
Â
Loyola (13-3, 8-2 SUN) has won each of the last eight matches. Heading into next week's conference tournament, the team is just one win away from tying last year's program record for wins in a season.Â
Â
The top Wolf Pack duo of Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli dominated both matches Thursday, 21-7, 21-5 in the first and 21-7, 21-9 in the second. Amaya Bazemore and Isabella Rodrigue also won in a close straight-sets result: 21-19, 21-19. It was the 12th consecutive win for Bazemore and Rodrigue, although they lost a tough three-setter later in the day to end the streak.Â
Â
While the final score of match one was not as close as match two, three of the courts went to deciding third sets. Nicholls barely got a win on court two with a 16-14 third set, but Loyola secured victories on both courts three and five with the team of Juliet Petruzelli and Isis Harink winning 18-21, 21-17, 15–11, and the team of Mary Dinegar and Belén Puche Laguna also coming back to win 15-21, 21-19, 15-12.Â
Â
A few pairs were different in the second match due to an injury. Kiarelis Martinez paired up with Juliet Petruzelli for the first time this year on court 2. After a long first set that they took 26-24, Nicholls ran away with the second set 21-11 before the Loyola seniors prevailed 15-13 in the third. The freshman pair of Harink and Lola Blancher also came back to win a tight three-setter on court 4, 20-22, 22-20, 15-12. Then Corrall and Emanuelli locked up the team victory on court 1.Â
Â
Loyola will head to Sarasota, Florida, for the 2026 Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Championship, which begins Friday, April 10. The Wolf Pack will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament, kicking off the action with a match against the defending champions, Webber International.Â
Â
Heading into the conference tournament, Bazemore and Rodrigue lead the team in wins with a 12-1 overall record. Martinez also has 12 wins individually, with 10 of those coming alongside Samantha Guillotte. Harink, who has played mostly with Petruzelli, has 10 wins individually. Corrall and Emanuelli have a 9-5 record on the top court. Dinegar and Puche moved to 5-1 on the season on court 5 after today.Â
