Loyola esports wins second straight Sun Conference title

NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola Wolf Pack esports program added another Sun Conference title to the trophy case on Saturday by sweeping Keiser 2-0 in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Grand Finals, 2-0. 
 

Loyola got a bye into the semifinals, then a forfeit moved the team right into the Grand Finals against the Seahawks. The Wolf Pack finished the campaign with a 7-0 record, which includes a 15-game winning streak dating back to the start of last season. 
 

Keiser got off to a good start by winning the opening fight of the first crew battle, 3-1. However, that didn't last long, as Malachi Lee dominated once again to help Loyola take a 1-0 lead in the match. He took out Keiser's character, 2-0, then Captain Falcon, 3-0, and Cloud, 3-1, before ending the crew battle with a 3-0 win over the Mii Brawler fighter. 
 

Lily Neeley got the Pack off to a great start in the second crew battle, taking the first eight stocks from the Mii Brawler, Cloud, and Captain Falcon before being eliminated. Leyton Gould finished off Captain Falcon, and Lee ended the match with ease by taking care of Keiser's Zelda.
