Beach volleyball begins Sun Conference schedule Friday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. –  The Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team started Sun Conference action on Friday with matches against Florida Memorial and St. Thomas University. 

Loyola (4-2) swept Florida Memorial 5-0 in the early morning match before falling 4-1 against St. Thomas. It was just the second win of the season for the Bobcats, but both wins have come against teams receiving high recognition in the national poll.

Amaya Bazemore and Isabella Rodrigue combined for the Pack's only win against the Bobcats, 21-19, 21-11 at flight 4. They also won at flight 3 in the first match, 21-14, 21-9.

After a 21-9, 21-8 win at flight 4 in the first match, Lola Blancher and Isis Harink lost their first set against St. Thomas but bounced back in the second, 21-15, to force a third. They ultimately fell 15-10 in the third set. 

Loyola also got wins from the duos of Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli, Samantha Guillotte and Kiarelis Martinez, and Zoe Barnes and Mary Dinegar in the Florida Memorial match. 

The conference schedule continues next weekend with matches against No. 8 Webber International, New College of Florida, and Warner University. The matches will be hosted at the University of Mobile.
