ROCKVALE, Tenn. – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's golf team started their fall schedule on Monday, completing the first round and playing most of the second round at the Music City Collegiate before play was suspended due to darkness.
The five Loyola golfers had just one more hole left to play before officials called them off the course. The Pack is 27-over-par and in 16th place out of 19 teams, but they're just 10 strokes away from the Top 10 on the team leaderboard. The field features five NAIA Top-25-ranked teams, as No. 19 Indiana Wesleyan leads the tournament at 1-over.
Leon Mishkin leads the Wolf Pack with a 1-under score through 35 holes and sits tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard. The sophomore shot a first-round 71 (-1) and finished Monday's play at even par to be one of seven golfers in red numbers.
After starting his morning round with a bogey on his third hole, Mishkin rebounded nicely with a birdie and five straight pars to end his first nine holes even par. Two more birdies on his 11th and 16th holes, as well as a bogey on his 14th, allowed the sophomore to finish one-under. Mishkin started his second round with a birdie before sitting at even par after nine holes. Two more bogeys and two more birdies rounded out the rest of his day, and he'll play the par-4, 490-yard 14th hole on Tuesday to conclude his second round.
Henry Day was putting together a strong second round when the stoppage happened. The freshman has four birdies on his card and is sitting at 1-under with just one hole left to play on Tuesday. He shot a first-round 78 (+6) to position himself tied for 34th (+5) for the tournament.
Peter Weirich had a nice first round to start his tournament, carding a morning round of 74 (+2). He's currently eight-over for his second round to sit tied for 70th (+10). Cristobal Salome is in 86th place (+13) after a first-round 79 (+7) and a six-over second-round score with one hole to play. Oliver White shot a first-round 85 (+13) and is currently nine-over for his second round.
