GREENVILLE, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship wrapped up on Wednesday with the third and final round, and the Loyola Wolf Pack moved up to eighth place on the final day. Loyola carded a 54-hole total of 950 (+86) after Wednesday's team score of 313 (+25).
No. 3 Dalton State won the championship with a tournament score of 883 (+19), and No. 20 Point and UT Southern tied for second (+24).
Cristobal Salome recorded the fourth under-par round of his season on Wednesday, and he was one of six golfers in the SSAC Championship field to break par as well. Salome finished his day with a 1-under, 71 to move up to 32nd on the individual leaderboard.
Salome got off to a good start on Wednesday with a birdie on the opening hole, then he sat even-par after seven holes before finishing the front nine 1-over. The sophomore was 2-over after 12 holes before birdies on the 13th and 15th holes. Salome finished his round bogey-birdie-birdie to help him finish the championship strong.
Leon Mishkin was Loyola's best finisher on the individual leaderboard with a 14th-place position. He finished his week with a 226 (+10) tournament score after his third-round 79 (+7). Manuel Corral placed 42nd (+29) for the championship, as he carded a 78 (+6) for his third round.
Cole Haase and Oliver White also played the third round to contribute to Loyola's scoring. Haase recorded an 85 (+13) on Wednesday and White scored an 88 (+16).
