Men’s golf tees it up at SSAC Championship

GREENVILLE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's golf team started the 54-hole Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Monday with the first round. The Wolf Pack carded a team total of 323 (+35) to sit in ninth place. 
 

No. 11 Blue Mountain Christian holds the 18-hole lead with a tournament score of  293 (+5), while No. 3 Dalton State is close behind in second place (+6). The three-day tournament, which is played at RTJ Cambrian Ridge, will resume with the second round on Tuesday. 
 

Leon Mishkin leads the Wolf Pack after his round of 77 (+5) for 21st place on the individual leaderboard. After a bogey on the par-4, second hole, he carded four straight pars before a birdie on the par-5, seventh dropped the freshman back down to even-par. He finished the front nine 1-over before four bogeys and five pars finished his round on the back nine. 
 

Cole Haase and Cristobal Salome each had first-round 81s (+9) to position themselves tied for 37th. Haase started his round with five straight pars before finding some trouble on the front nine, then he was even-par on the back nine until a rough stretch finished his day. Salome recorded an eagle on the par-5, seventh to help his scoring, but the back nine played tough for the sophomore as well. 
 

Manuel Corral and Arsenios Kalogerakis are in 48th and 51st, respectively, after rounds of 84 (+12) and 87 (+15)
