Mishkin moves into Top 10 at SSAC Championship

GREENVILLE, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship continued with the second round on Tuesday, as freshman Leon Mishkin posted a two-under-par round to move up 13 spots on the individual leaderboard. 
 

As a team, the Loyola Wolf Pack stayed in ninth place with a two-round total of 637 (+61) after a second round 314 (+26) on Tuesday. The third and final round will take place on Wednesday. 
 

Mishkin turned in the lowest round of his season on Tuesday, carding the first under-par round in his young collegiate career. The freshman shot a two-under, 70 for his second round to vault into eighth place on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 147 (+3). Mishkin started his day with six straight pars before a birdie on the par-5, seventh hole. A par on the eighth and another birdie on the ninth closed out his front nine. After two pars, a bogey and a birdie on his first four holes on his back nine, a triple bogeyed moved him back to over par. However, a strong close, with a par on the 15th and three straight birdies, helped Mishkin get back to under par. 
 

Mishkin was one of six golfers in the field to post a score in the red numbers, and he's one stroke outside the Top 5. 
 

Cristobal Salome improved his score from the first round to the second with an 80 (+8) on Tuesday. He's in 38th place with a 161 (+17) tournament score. Manuel Corral is in 46th place (+23) after his second-round 83 (+11). 
 

Oliver White and Jude LeBoeuf were subbed in for the second round, as the freshmen carded scores of 81 (+8) and 91 (+19), respectively.
