GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team began the 2025 Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Championship on Friday. The third seed in the tournament, the Wolf Pack started the day with a 3-2 win over New College of Florida before falling 3-1 against second seed, and No. 8-ranked team in the NAIA, Webber International.

Loyola will now play in an elimination match against the seventh-seeded Ave Maria Gyrenes at 9 a.m. Saturday in Gulf Shores. The winner of that match advances to the semifinal to face top-seeded Mobile. The Wolf Pack previously defeated the Gyrenes 3-2 on March 8 in the opening weekend of the conference schedule, also in Gulf Shores.

The Wolf Pack swept the season series against New College this season, also beating them 5-0 on March 14. On Friday, The No. 4 pair of Amaya Bazemore and Isabella Rodrigue got things started, winning 22-20, 21-11. The Mighty Banyans went ahead in the match with wins on courts 2 and 5, but the Pack tied things back up with a straight-sets win at court 3 from Juliet Petruzelli and Mary Dinegar.

The first match of the day was decided on court 1, the only one to go to a third set. Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli lost the first set, but they bounced back to win the next two, winning 18-21, 21-19, 15-10.

Bazemore and Rodrigue were once again victorious against Webber, coming back to win in three sets: 16-21, 23-21, 15-12. The court 4 pairing now has a team-high 14 victories this season and a 14-5 overall record, winning each of their last six matches.

Corral and Emanuelli also went to a deciding third set in their match, barely losing by two points, and the Warriors wrapped up the match with another three-set win on court 5.
