Loyola takes down No. 8 Ave Maria

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team is now off to a 3-0 start in Sun Conference play, earning its biggest win of the season on Saturday with a 3-2 result against NAIA No. 8 Ave Maria. It was the program's first win against the Gyrenes in five matches since the 2023 season. Ave Maria, who won the 2024 Sun Conference regular season title, has now lost three straight conference matches to Loyola, William Carey, and Mobile. 

Continuing its best start in program history, Loyola is now 5-1 in the 2025 season. 

Amaya Bazemore and Isabella Rodrigue got the first win of the day for the Pack, 21-15, 21-14. The No. 4 pair for the Pack won all three matches this weekend; they're now 4-2 on the season.

The No. 2 pair Samantha Guillotte and Rosemary is also now 4-2 on the season after a hard-fought win in three sets: 21-16, 18-21, 15-13. 

The Wolf Pack closed out the win with Juliet Petruzelli and Mary Dinegar on court 3, as they won in straight sets at 21-19, 21-15. 

Loyola will travel to Babson Park, Fla., next weekend for three more Sun Conference matches hosted by the NAIA's No. 6-ranked team, Webber International. The Pack will face New College of Florida on Friday, March 14, before taking on Warner University and Webber on March 15.
