Malachi Lee named Esports All-Conference

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Conference announced its Esports All-Conference teams last week and Loyola's Malachi Lee was among the five student-athletes on the Super Smash Bros. team. Lee's All-Conference nod is the second consecutive All-Conference award after Makari Jackson was honored after the 2024 Sun Conference season.

The All-Conference honor is the first award of Lee's collegiate career, adding another accolade to Loyola's season. In his debut season, Lee led the Wolf Pack Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team to an undefeated record and the program's first-ever Sun Conference Championship title. The freshman and Loyola earned a perfect 8-0 record, sweeping every match to never lose a crew battle, becoming the only team to achieve that feat.

Primarily playing as Terry from the Fatal Fury series, the New Orleans native made a big impact on the Maroon and Gold's success this season. One of Lee's biggest highlights was a sweep of Texas A&M Texarkana in the first crew battle of the regular-season finale. Lee defeated four consecutive opponents, only dropping one stock in the set. Lee and the Wolf Pack also swept Warner University, defeating the winner of this season's Player of the Year award.

Loyola's newest All-Conference member and the Wolf Pack will continue Super Smash Bros. competition on Thursday, Apr. 3, with a NACE playoff matchup against Manchester University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday's postseason contest can be watched live at twitch.tv/loynoesports.
