THIBODAUX, La. – The No. 9 Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team split a pair of matches at Nicholls State University's Bayou Battle, falling 4-1 Friday morning before bouncing back with a 4-1 win against host Nicholls, an NCAA Division-I school, to finish the day.
Loyola now has an 11-4 record this season. After going 10-6 in the program's first year of competition in 2023 and 9-14 last year, the Pack's 11 wins this season are a new program record.
Amaya Bazemore and Isabella Rodrigue, Loyola's No. 4 pair, won their matches against both Texas Wesleyan and Nicholls. They won in straight sets against the Rams, dropping the first set against the Colonels but bouncing back to win the next two. Bazemore and Rodrigue became the third Wolf Pack pair to win at least 10 matches this season, now owning a 10-5 record.
The No. 1, 2, and 5 positions also produced wins for the Pack against the Colonels. Kala Emanuelli and Madeline Corrall won in straight sets on court 1, as did Rosemary Vanney Lane and Samantha Guillotte on court 2. Both of the top Loyola pairs are now 11-4 this season. The No. 5 pair of Kiarelis Martinez and Belén Puche Laguna had a similar comeback to the court 4 win, rebounding from down a set to win the match in three sets.
Loyola will close out the 2025 regular season hosting the top two teams in the Sun Conference, Mobile and William Carey, on April 5 at the White Sands Volleyball Courts in Elmwood, La. William Carey and Mobile will face off at 9 a.m. to begin the day, followed by Loyola vs. Mobile at 11 a.m. and Loyola vs. William Carey at 1 p.m.
