Weirich places fourth at BMCU Spring Classic

WEST POINT, Miss. – Loyola Wolf Pack men's golf's Peter Weirich had a career day on Tuesday, wrapping up a solid week at the BMCU Spring Classic for the freshman. 
 

Weirich carded a third-round 68 (-4) to record the lowest round of his collegiate career, also moving him up into a tie for fourth with a 54-hole tournament score of 216 (E). Starting his day on the 12th hole, he carded a birdie on the 13th and 18th to help move to the first tee at 1-under. He'd record three birdies and nine pars during his final 12 holes to cap off his successful day. 
 

Tuesday marked Weirich's first career Top 5 finish, and his third-round score, as well as his 54-hole tournament score, were both tied for fifth in the Loyola men's golf record book. 
 

Trey Ponce and Cristobal Salome both had scores of 78 (+6) on Tuesday to finish 37th (+13) and 56th (+18), respectively. Cameron Bruce shot an 80 (+8) to finish 62nd (+22) and Arthur Mijic had a third-round 81 (+9) to finish 76th (+27). 
 

As a team, Loyola placed 12th out of 17 teams with a team score of 917 (+53). No. 4 Dalton State ran away with the team title at 1-under-par, and No. 22 Point (+22) and (RV) Cumberland (+29) round out the Top 3 on the team leaderboard. 
 

The Wolf Pack is set to take part in the one-day UNO Match Play event at Bayou Oaks at City Park on April 8, and the SSAC Championship is scheduled for April 22-24 at Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Alabama.
