ABITA SPRINGS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's golf team placed fifth at the Wolf Pack Invitational, presented by Loft18, this week, hosting six other programs for its annual tournament. Loyola placed fifth with a 32-over two-round score and just four strokes out of a Top 3 finish on the team leaderboard.
Peter Weirich led the Wolf Pack with a sixth-place individual finish at 4-over-par. He moved seven spots up the board after an even-par round on Tuesday, carding four birdies and 11 pars during his second round. The Memphis, Tennessee, native started 4-over after his first six holes but closed his round with a 4-under final 12 holes without a bogey.
Arthur Mijic made a big jump up the leaderboard, too, moving up 10 spots with a second-round 1-over score. After a 2-over through six start, he registered two birdies to get back down to even-par after 15. A bogey-birdie-bogey finished out his day and placed him 16th on the leaderboard.
Cristobal Salome was next for Loyola with a 28th (+11) finish, and Cole Haase (+12) and Trey Ponce (+13) were not far behind in 31st and 32nd, respectively. Playing as individuals, Cameron Bruce (+17) and Jacob Brand (+41) finished in 38th and 51st place.
Loyola is scheduled to compete in the Gulf Coast Collegiate, hosted by the University of New Orleans, next week at English Turn Golf & Country Club.
