MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Loyola Wolf Pack sophomore men's golfer Cristobal Salome had a career performance last week at the Alice Lloyd Eagle Invitational, and the Southern States Athletic Conference named him this week's Men's Golfer of the Week for his efforts.
It's the first time a Wolf Pack men's golfer has been named SSAC Men's Golfer of the Week since November 2023.
Salome birdied the final hole to jump into a tie for first with two other golfers, forcing a playoff. The sophomore ended up losing the playoff on the second hole, but he finished the week with a 148 (+4) tournament score. The Santa Cruz, Bolivia, native started his day with a bogey before moving back to even par three holes later. He stayed at that score until a bogey on his ninth hole, then another bogey on his 14th hole moved him to 2-over. After three pars, a birdie on his 18th hole finished his second-round 73 (+1) score, allowing him to compete in the playoff.
It was Salome's first career Top 5 finish at Loyola, too.
