COHUTTA, Ga. – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's golf team traveled to north Georgia this week for their final tournament of the fall season, and they're in second place out of 12 teams after a first-round 309 (+21). The tournament was reduced to a 36-hole event after rain caused a delay to Monday's start. The players still battled a soaked course throughout the day, but the Pack handled the conditions well to sit three strokes out of the lead.
IU Southeast leads the field after its first-round 306 (+18), and SSAC foe Abraham Baldwin is in third place after scoring a 312 (+24).
Cristobal Salome finds himself in the Top 5 of the individual leaderboard, while Peter Weirich is not far behind in a tie for seventh. Salome carded 13 pars and a birdie throughout this round to record a 75 (+3) and sit tied for fourth. Weirich is one stroke behind his teammate to help Loyola's scoring, using 11 pars and a couple of birdies to get to his 76 (+4).
Arsenios Kalogerakis is tied for 13th after shooting a 78 (+6). His round was a little more up-and-down with three birdies on his card. Miles Russell finished the day tied for 19th with a round of 80 (+8), and Leon Mishkin is tied for 24th after carding an 81 (+9). Playing as an individual, Oliver White is tied for 49th after his first-round 88 (+16).
The tournament will resume on Tuesday with the second and final round.
