NEW ORLEANS – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released its first individual rankings for the 2025-26 season, and three Loyola Wolf Pack women's tennis student-athletes were recognized among the NAIA's best. Graduate students Avery Frierson and Adele Fereres will enter the season as the No. 7-ranked doubles team in the NAIA, while freshman Presha Shanthamoorthi is ranked No. 34 in NAIA singles.
The ITA administers rankings that are designed to track the top men's and women's tennis players and teams from all levels of collegiate tennis.
Fereres and Frierson have been the highlight of the fall schedule for Wolf Pack tennis. The duo won four matches at the 2025 ITA Gulf Regional to reach the doubles final. In the regional, they knocked off Victoria Vieten and Isabella Lechuga, the top-seeded team from William Carey which was slotted in the 10th spot in the national rankings. Their only losses have come against top-five NAIA teams from Xavier and Lindsey Wilson.
This marks the second-highest ITA doubles ranking for any Wolf Pack team, with Lucy Carpenter and Chloe Henderson's standing of No. 5 last year being the highest. The graduate students are the fifth Loyola doubles team to ever be ranked in program history, joining Carpenter and Henderson, Carpenter and Fatima Vasquez, Micaela Ponce and Ariana Salgueiro-Estela, and Ponce and Fereres.
Shanthamoorthi joined Carpenter as the only Loyola women's tennis freshmen to be ranked in ITA singles in program history. She played well in her first tournament with the Wolf Pack, winning two matches at the ITA Regional to reach the quarterfinal round, where she dropped a close match to Vieten, the eventual champion.
This is the sixth consecutive season in which the Wolf Pack will have at least one player ranked in the NAIA heading into the new year.
