Women’s golf wins third tournament of spring

NEW ORLEANS – The 15th-ranked Loyola Wolf Pack women's golf team continued their dominant spring this week at the Wolf Pack Spring Invitational, earning their third team win in the last four tournaments with a total score of 917 (+53). Loyola beat Mississippi College by three strokes to earn the team title, as the rest of the field was far behind the Top 2 teams. 
 

The total score and score-to-par are both the seventh-best scores in program history for a 54-hole tournament, and this week marked the 13th team win in Loyola women's golf history. 
 

Blair McKenzie led the group with her fifth Top 5 finish of her career, which is tied for sixth all-time for Loyola. She wrapped up her week with a third-round 77 (+5) to total a 221 (+5) score and place in a tie for second. Her 54-hole total score and score-to-par are both tied for sixth all-time as well. 
 

Daniella Salazar also snagged her sixth career Top 5, placing fifth with a tournament score of 232 (+16). She carded a third-round 79 (+7) to end her week. Emma Smithers and Catherine Singletary both placed in the Top 10, too, finishing tied for sixth and eighth, respectively. Smithers' third-round score of 80 (+8) moved her to a total score of 234 (+18), and Singletary's 74 (+2) on Tuesday vaulted her into the Top 10 with a tournament score of 237 (+21). It was Smither's 19th career Top 10 finish and Singletary's eighth. 
 

Lainey Cristan was just outside the Top 10 in a tie for 12th (240, +24). 
 

The Loyola B team, made up of Kaitlyn Montoya, Sydney D'Avella, Aidan McLachlan and Evie Sisk also beat two Southern States Athletic Conference opponents, Mobile and Faulkner. Montoya placed tied for 12th with a three-round total of 240 (+24), followed by D'Avella in a tie for 15th (245, +29), McLachlan tied for 23rd (255, +39) and Sisk in 29th (262, +46).
