Beach volleyball season ends in conference tournament

BRADENTON, Fla. – Loyola Beach Volleyball was eliminated from the Sun Conference Championship on day two of the tournament, falling short in a 3-2 loss to the University of Mobile. 

This was the third meeting between the Wolf Pack and the Rams, with the teams splitting the prior meetings. Mobile led the dual 2-0 after wins at flights 2 and 4. The flight 5 pairing of senior Emily Sheperis and junior Gabby Masiello got the first dual point for Loyola 21-19, 21-13. The flight 3 pairing of Juliet Petruzelli and Samantha Ingram tied up the dual 2-2 winning 21-17, 21-16.

It all came down to the third set on Court 1 with sophomore Kala Emanuelli and Samantha Guillotte, who was the Sun Conference Freshman of the Year as well as First-Team All-Conference. After a tight battle where they won the first set, the Wolf Pack fell just short of advancing to the semifinal with an 18-21, 21-16, 18-16 loss. 

Loyola ends the season with a 9-14 overall record, and the team was voted inside the top 15 in the national rankings for most of the season. The team's conference record was an improvement over the previous year, as the Pack went 7-3 in Sun Conference play, tied for the third-best mark in the conference.
