SSAC Men’s Golf Championship ends Wednesday

GREENVILLE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's golf team wrapped up the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Wednesday with the third round, finishing the tournament in sixth place (914, +50). No. 1 Dalton State claimed the championship with an 867 (+3) total score and No. 19 William Carey was in second with an 872 (+8) score. 
 

Arthur Mijic capped off his tournament with a third straight 75 score, finishing in a tie for 14th place (225, +9). He started the third round with a birdie on the par-5 opening hole before a bogey on the par-3 second. Seven straight pars and a birdie on the 10th moved the junior down to 1-under, but a 4-over finish brought Mijic to his 3-over score. 
 

Preston Giroir had the best round of his championship with a 76 (+4). Two birdies helped the freshman sit at 2-over after his first nine holes, then another birdie and six pars highlighted his back nine to end his tournament tied for 22nd (230, +14) on the individual leaderboard. 
 

Logan Peterson, who was subbed in prior to the second round, had the best score for the Wolf Pack on Wednesday, carding a third-round 74 (+2). He started his day with two birdies and four pars during his first nine that him at 1-over, and an eagle on the par-5 16th helped his scoring on the back. Trey Ponce subbed back in after playing the first round and shot a third-round 76 (+4) to help Loyola's scoring. 
 

Max Kukuk finished the week in a tie for 32nd (234, +18), and playing as an individual, Cameron Bruce was right behind his teammate in 35th (235, +19).
