Beach volleyball loses two to NCAA programs

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Loyola Beach Volleyball team concluded the Beachburg Invitational with defeats against NCAA Division-I Southern Miss, the host of the tournament, and Division-II Spring Hill College.

Seeking redemption after two losses yesterday, the Wolf Pack adjusted their lineup. Sophomore Gabby Masiello returned from illness to partner with senior Emily Sheperis in flight 5. Additionally, there was a swap between the Pack's usual third and fourth pair. Despite these changes, Loyola was swept 5-0 against Southern Miss.

Facing off against Spring Hill College, Loyola managed to secure their sole victory of the day through junior Preslie Boswell and junior Rosemary Vanney, winning 22-20, 23-21 at the number four flight for their team-high 11th win of the season. The Badgers won on the other courts, however, for a 4-1 result. 

The higher-level competition has provided valuable preparation for the Wolf Pack as they gear up for their second trip to the Sun Conference Championship, which is scheduled to commence on Friday, April 5th, in Bradenton, Fla. Looking to bring home the program's first Sun Conference title, Loyola will enter as a top-four seed in a tournament with a 7-3 conference record. The Pack finished as a semifinalist last season.
