HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's golf team wrapped up the Carey Collegiate Classic on Tuesday, finishing the three-round tournament with an 895 (+43) total score. Loyola put together the eighth-best 54-hole total score in program history this week in Hattiesburg, but due to the tough field with five ranked teams - four in the Top 10 - and three others receiving votes, the Pack placed 13th.
No. 8 Lindsey Wilson won the tournament with an 842 (-10) score, followed by No. 1 Dalton State (843, -9) and No. 12 Point University (856, +4) in the Top 3 of the team leaderboard.
Logan Peterson led the Wolf Pack in a tie for 38th with a three-round total of 221 (+8), as the senior put together a third-round score of 75 (+4) to finish his tournament. Peterson started his day with a double bogey on his second hole before a birdie two holes later moved him back down to 1-over after six holes. Seven pars, four bogeys and another birdie finished off his round.
Playing as an individual, Arthur Mijic had the best day among the group, carding an even-par, 71 round to move up 16 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 45th (224, +11). The junior birdied his second and seventh holes to sit at 2-under through eight, then another birdie and three bogeys moved him back to even. Michael Bullock (224, +11) tied his teammate at 45th after his third-round score of 77 (+6) as well.
Max Kukuk was next for Loyola with a 74 (+3) on Tuesday to finish the week tied for 52nd (226, +13). Trey Ponce (228, +15) and Preston Giroir (235, +22) were next in 60th and 69th place, as the two shot scores of 76 (+5) to make it all six golfers carding scores in the 70s.
The men's golf team returns to action March 25-26 in West Point, Mississippi, at Blue Mountain Christian's Spring Classic. That tournament will be played at Mossy Oak Golf Club.
