Loyola resumes competition at Carey Collegiate Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Playing in a stacked field with five ranked teams - four in the Top 10 - and three others receiving votes, the Loyola Wolf Pack men's golf team played the first two rounds of three at the Carey Collegiate Classic on Monday. The Pack had a two-round total of 594 (+26) to sit in 13th place with 18 holes to play on Tuesday. 
 

No. 8 Lindsey Wilson leads the field with a 551 (-17) total score, and No. 1 Dalton State (563, -5), No. 5 Truett-McConnell (572, +4) and No. 17 William Carey (572, +4) round-out the Top 3 on the team leaderboard. 
 

Logan Peterson and Michael Bullock put up respectable scores to lead the Wolf Pack, but the low scores from golfers on the top the teams pushed the two down on the individual leaderboard to T-32nd and T-38th, respectively. Peterson started his day with a 2-over, 73 with a couple of birdies on his card, then he played his first eight holes under-par during the second round before finishing the afternoon with a 2-over, 73 as well. Bullock played much better in the afternoon after his first-round 76 (+5). After consecutive pars started his second round, two birdies moved him down to 2-under through six holes, then one bogey and six pars made him 1-under through 12. A bogey-bogey-birdie finish brought the junior to his even-par, 72 round. 
 

Trey Ponce and Max Kukuk are both tied for 57 with 10-over scores (152). Ponce rebounded from a first-round 80 (+9) score with a 1-over, 72 second second, and Kukuk put together rounds of 75 (+4) and 77 (+6)  to get to his two-round total. Playing as an individual, Arthur Mijic is one stroke behind his two teammates with a 153 (+11) total, carding scores of 76 (+5) and 77 (+6) on Monday to sit tied for 61st. Preston Giroir had rounds of 77 (+6) and 82 (+11) to be tied for 74th.
