Wolf Pack Esports goes undefeated this week

Loyola took wins in Call of Duty and Super Smash Bros.

NEW ORLEANS – On Wednesday night, the Wolf Pack competed in its first match of the spring season, taking a win over Southern Miss. Then, both Super Smash Bros. teams took wins in NACE competition on Thursday, sweeping Oklahoma Christian University and Keiser University.

Starting on Tuesday, Feb. 13, the Wolf Pack will have its first full week of competition. On Tuesday, Loyola will play SCAD Savannah in Sun Conference Smash Bros at 7 p.m. Then, Call of Duty will play its second match of the season against Highland Community College (Kan.) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, Smash Bros. Premier and Plus will be back at 6 p.m., competing against the University of Missouri - St. Louis and Columbia International University, respectively. All of the matches will be streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@loynoesports. The Smash Bros. Plus team will be live-streaming on the LoynoEsports2 YouTube channel. 

On Wednesday, the Pack took home the first Call of Duty victory of the season, taking on Southern Miss. In the 3-0 victory, Loyola made quick work of the Golden Eagles with three straight wins. Adeola Apata started the match with 29 kills in the first round. Wilhelmina Roccaforte-Kostecky took down the final enemy in Search and Destroy, securing the second round. Keagan Authement and Gabrielle Jenkins combined for 26 kills in the final round to give the Pack a victory.
 

The Super Smash Bros. Premier squad swept Oklahoma Christian University on Thursday, taking the match's first two sets. Ameer Joseph and Samuel Spiegal won three fights each. Joseph won two in a row in the first crew battle, taking down OCU's Lucas without dropping a stock. Anthony Nodolski and Makari Jackson got some action in the match. Jackson struck first with a win over King K. Rool, while also taking the match's final fight to secure the victory.
 

The Smash Bros. Plus team began its season with a 2-0 victory over Keiser University. Daven-Angelo Montalbano took two wins in the first set, taking four straight stocks. Leyton Gould got two wins on the day, playing Sonic and Mario. Cylese Winding got a win as well, playing Isabelle and Robin. Joaquin Vazquez was clutch against KU, winning three matches on Thursday, two of which were the final fights of each set. In the second set, Vazquez's Link defeated two opponents, only losing one stock while securing the Loyola victory.
