Men’s golf competes in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's golf team sits in a fifth-place tie after Day 1 of the University of Mobile's Ram Spring Invite, carding a two-round score of 612 (+36). After 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament, William Carey has a sizable lead in first (+3) while Trevecca Nazarene (+24) and Faulkner (+27) are in second and third place. 
 

Michael Bullock and Logan Peterson lead Loyola inside the Top 10, both sitting tied for ninth with one other golfer from Freed-Hardeman. 
 

Starting his first round on the third tee, Bullock began the day strong with four birdies through his first seven holes to sit 3-under. His play was a little more up-and-down once he got to the course's back nine, carding two birdies and four bogeys to be 1-under after the 18th hole. He finished his round with a bogey and par on the first and second holes to finish even (72) heading into the second round. During his afternoon round, Bullock sat 3-over after 12 holes before registering a birdie. Bullock had three pars and a double bogey to finish off his round of 76 (+4). 
 

Peterson had a first-round score of 77 (+5) with a couple of birdies, but he played much in the afternoon with a 71 (-1) on his card. He was 1-over through two holes, then quickly moved down to 2-under after three birdies and four pars finished off his first nine holes. A couple of bogeys to start his back nine moved him back to even-par, but he'd score three more birdies the rest of the way to finish his under-par round. 
 

Trey Ponce had scores of 77 and 81 to sit in a tie for 33rd, Max Kukuk is 40th with rounds of 82 and 79, and Preston Giroir is in 46th after carding scores of 88 and 78.
