Wolf Pack wraps up fall schedule Tuesday

GULFPORT, Miss. – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's golf team was in action this week for the last time this fall, finishing in 7th place out of 17 teams at the MGCCC Fall Invite. Loyola carded a three-round total of 908 (+44), and Peter Weirich led the team with a Top 10 finish. 
 

MGCCC won the tournament by 12 strokes over Central Alabama, recording scores of 2-under and 10-over, respectively. Murray State (Okla.) finished third at 29-over. 
 

Weirich, who was competing in his third career collegiate tournament at Loyola, put together his best performance of the season throughout the week. He shot his best collegiate round on Monday (70), recorded his best 54-hole tournament score (219) and finished in the Top 10 for the first time in his career (8th). 
 

Weirich had three birdies through his first six holes to sit at 2-under, but a rocky finish on the front nine moved him to 1-over with nine holes to play. Three more bogeys and two birdies brought the freshman to his 2-over, 74. Cole Haase tied his teammate with a 74 (+2) during his final round of the tournament, carding just two bogeys and 16 pars to get to his third-round score. The freshman was next on the individual leaderboard in 37th (+13). 
 

Trey Ponce moved up 11 spots in the leaderboard with a 76 (+4) on Tuesday. He finished in 50th (+18) while Cristobal Salome shot a 79 (+7) and placed 48th (+17). Arthur Mijic finishes off Loyola's scoring by taking 54th (+19).
