Men’s golf plays first team event

ATHENS, Ala. – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's golf team traveled to Athens, Alabama, this week for their first team event of the season, completing the first round of the Firehawk Invite tied for fourth place out of nine teams. 
 

Logan Peterson led the group with a 1-over score (73), which is good for the seventh position on the 46-man individual leaderboard. As a team, the Pack carded a 302 (+17) score, as two golfers were in the Top 10 after Day 1 of the competition. 
 

Peterson started his day on the 10th tee and made a bogey, but birdies on the 13th and 16th hole allowed him to rebound nicely. Another bogey on the 18th hole finished his first nine even-par, then six pars to start the next nine set up a birdie-bogey-bogey finish to his round. Michael Bullock started his round on the 12th tee and parred the first three holes. After a double bogey on the 15th, he carded a birdie on the 17th before 10 straight pars left him 1-over with three holes left. Bullock would go on to finish his round bogey-par-par to shoot a 74 (+2) and sit tied for eighth.
 

Trey Ponce and Preston Giroir both had first-round scores of 7-over, 79 to be tied for 23rd, and Max Kukuk is tied for 37th after a round of 82. 
 

Round 2 is set for Tuesday.
