MERIDIAN, Miss. – Similar to the women's team last week, the Loyola men's golf team got its 2023-24 season started with an individual stroke play tournament on Monday, and fifth-year senior Logan Peterson highlighted the day by tying with five other competitors for low medalist honors.
Loyola competed against William Carey, Jones College and Meridian Community College.
The Wolf Pack brought 10 golfers to the medal play event, and four placed inside the Top 10 of the 34-golfer field. Peterson led the group with his even-par, 72, followed by Preston Girior's 73 to place sixth. Trey Ponce and Michael Bullock placed seventh and ninth, respectively, with scores of 74 and 75, and Arthur Mijic and Marco Olano finished just outside the Top 10 in 13th place with scores of 77. Max Kukuk was next in a tie for 19th after carding his round of 79, then Cade Scarborough (T27th, 83), Chase May (29th, 84) and Cameron Bruce (T30th, 85) finished off Loyola's scoring.
Loyola will compete in its first team tournament next week, taking part in Tennessee Southern's Firehawk Invite in Athens, Alabama, starting on Monday.
