Loyola finishes Nicholls beach tournament with victory

THIBODAUX, La. – The Loyola beach volleyball team wrapped up the Clash on the Cajun Bayou tournament, hosted by Nicholls State University, with two matches on Saturday.

 

After a close 3-2 loss to the host school, the Wolf Pack finished out the tournament with a victory against LaGrange College, a 5-0 sweep. 

 

The Wolf Pack have compiled a 4-8 overall record this season. 

 

Against Nicholls, Gabby Masiello and Elizabeth Prado won in straight sets while Brittany Cooper and Samantha Ingram won the first and dominated the third set to pick up the victory at flight 3. Both pairs won again in straight sets in the LaGrange match, with Masiello and Prado (now 4-2 on the season) being moved up to flight 4. 

 

Cooper and Ingram now lead the Wolf Pack with eight wins this season in 12 matches. 

 

Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli wrapped up their flight 2 match quickly, while Preslie Boswell and Juliet Petruzelli battled back from a set down to take their flight 2 match. LaGrange only had four pairs, giving Loyola the 5-0 win. 

 

The Wolf Pack will make their return to The Sun Conference action next weekend, playing three matches in Cleveland, Ga. Loyola will face St. Andrews University and host Truett McConnell University in a conference doubleheader on Friday, March 10, at noon.
