Loyola closes out beach volleyball regular season in Florida Friday

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Loyola University New Orleans beach volleyball team closed out the regular season with two conference matches on Friday against teams in the top five in the conference standings. 

 

To start the day, the Wolf Pack played close with NAIA No. 6-ranked Webber International, who hosted all three matches for the Pack this week. Webber won 3-2, and in the second match of the day, Southeastern (Fla.) defeated Loyola 5-0, with three of the matches going to a deciding third set. 

 

The Pack finished the regular season with an 8-14 overall record, 4-6 in Sun Conference competition. The team will now prepare for The Sun Conference Championship tournament, which begins Friday, April 7. 

 

Loyola's flight 1 duo of Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli got their second win of the week in the Webber match: 21-17, 17-21, 15-9. They were close to victory in the Southeastern Match as well, but were edged out in three sets. 

 

The other win for the Pack in the Webber match came at flight 5, where Kiarelis Martinez and Emily Sheperis won in straight sets. It was the pair's ninth win this season, the second-most on the team.
