Beach volleyball takes down Warner 3-2 Thursday

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Loyola University New Orleans beach volleyball team defeated Warner University (Fla.) 3-2 on Thursday in the first of three road conference matches this week.

 

The Wolf Pack's record this year is now 8-12 overall, 4-4 in conference play. The team is now tied for sixth in the Sun Conference standings with Warner, which is also 4-4. 

 

Gabby Masiello and Elizabeth Prado at flight 4 had the quickest win of the day for the Pack at 21-17, 21-12. Kiarelis Martinez and Emily Sheperis also won in straight sets at flight 5: 21-19, 21-16. 

 

Those two pairings have been solid for the Wolf Pack in the last month. Since Masiello and Prado started playing at flight 4 during the match against LaGrange College, they're 6-3 overall, while Martinez and Sheperis are 6-2. 

 

The match came down to flight 1, where Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli earned a comeback three-set win (14-21, 21-17, 15-10) as the Pack sealed the win. 

 

The last two matches of Loyola's regular season will both be against teams in the top five in the conference. The Wolf Pack will take on the top team in the conference, Webber International, at 10 a.m. EDT before facing Southeastern, fifth in the conference, at 2 p.m.
