NEW ORLEANS – Fighting for a chance to qualify for the playoffs, the Pack took another victory on Monday with their sweep of East Tennessee State University. As the No. 9 seed in the LCQ bracket, the Pack defeated the No. 8 seed ETSU.
On Monday, April 3, the Wolf Pack will face the No. 1 seed, Northwood University. The match will be live streamed at 7:30 p.m. at https://twitch.tv/loynoesports.Â
Nathan Long began the match for the Pack playing Isabelle. Facing Pyra and Mythra, Long came back to take the win with a spike, 3-2. ETSU's Banjo & Kazooie went on a run, taking down Long's Isabelle and Shawn DeJesus' Kazuya. Then, Anthony Nodolski's Olimar traded stocks with ETSU's bear and bird duo to take the victory.Â
ETSU's Shulk created a different matchup for Olimar, using the Monado Arts to deliver strong hits to the lightweight Pikmin captain. Before falling, Nodolski traded stocks with Shulk to leave him with a single stock, 2-2. Owen Salinas brought in Luigi to end the first set, quickly downing Shulk, along with ETSU's final fighter in Ryu.
With a one-set lead heading into the second crew battle, Nathan Long came back to start with Rosalina & Luma. Long defeated ETSU's Hero with two stocks to spare, 3-1. Banjo & Kazooie returned to defeat Long, but he lost a stock in the process, 2-1. Nodolski's Olimar returned for the second crew battle, trading stocks with Banjo & Kazooie to take the victory, 2-2. Once again, Nodolski managed to trade stocks with his opponent in Pyra and Mythra to give his next teammate a one-stock lead before falling, 1-1.Â
Ameer Joseph brought in Bayonetta to defeat ETSU's Pyra and Mythra, ending the fight with a ladder combo, 2-1. ETSU's Kazuya was the next to fight Joseph's Bayonetta, taking him down, 2-1. Salinas returned with Luigi to end the match, defeating ETSU's last fighter, 2-1, to give the Pack the victory.
