Beach volleyball drops two against William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After upsetting No. 7 William Carey earlier in the week, the Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team played two non-conference road matches against the Crusaders on Friday. The matches were played on the courts at the University of Southern Mississippi. 

 

Both matches were close, but the Crusaders, now ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, came out on top, 4-1 in the first match and 3-2 in the second. The Wolf Pack's record now stands at 7-12 this season. 

 

Match 1 could have gone either way, as four of the five flights went to a deciding third set. Loyola had a 2-0 lead in Match 2, but WCU won the remaining matches in straight sets to get their second win of the day.

 

Kiarelis Martinez and Emily Sheperis had the best day for any Wolf Pack pair, as they won twice at flight 5, both matches coming in three sets. Barely being edged out in their first match at flight 4, Elizabeth Prado and Gabby Masiello came back to win in straight sets in Match 2. 

 

Loyola will close out the regular season in Babson Park, Fla. next week with three Sun Conference matches, beginning with a matchup with Warner University on Thursday, March 30.
