CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Loyola University New Orleans beach volleyball team played a conference doubleheader on Friday to begin a weekend of three matches hosted by Truett McConnell University.
Facing St. Andrews University in the morning match, the Wolf Pack won 4-1 to collect the team's second conference win of the season. Then in the afternoon against host Truett McConnell, the Pack lost a close one 3-2.
Loyola's record this year now stands at 5-9, 2-3 in The Sun Conference action.
Against St. Andrews, two matches went to three sets with the Wolf Pack coming out on top in both. After Preslie Boswell and Juliet Petruzelli got a straight-sets win at flight 2 and Brittany Cooper and Samantha Ingram did the same at flight 3. Then, Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli were victorious in a three-setter at flight 1, with Kiarelis Martinez and Emily Sheperis winning their three-set match at flight 5.
The match with Truett McConnell could've resulted in a win for either side, as four of the five flights went the full three sets. Corral and Emanuelli won again in flight 1, with the last set ending 21-19. Gabby Masiello and Elizabeth Prado also got a three-set win at flight 4. The matches for Boswell and Petruzelli, Martinez and Sheperis were also decided in three sets, with the Wolf Pack pairs losing by just a few points.
Loyola's beach volleyball team will be in Cleveland for one more non-conference match on Saturday as the Wolf Pack look to bounce back against Bob Jones University at 10 a.m. EST.
