Beach volleyball splits pair of matches Friday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball season continued on Friday with a pair of dual matches at the Huntingdon Beach Bash. 

 

Loyola began the day with a 4-1 victory over Spartanburg Methodist College before falling 5-0 to the event hosts, Huntingdon College. The Wolf Pack now own an overall team record of 2-2 after splitting two matches with Mobile last weekend. 

 

The duo of Brittany Cooper and Samantha Ingram had two close sets in their flight 3 match against SMC, but they were able to take them both (24-22, 23-21) to improve to 3-1 on the season. 

 

Kiarelis Martinez and Emily Sheperis won in straight sets as well (21-15, 21-6) to get their second win of the season. The team of Juliet Petruzelli and Preslie Boswell also got their second victory of the year, coming back to win a three-set match at flight 2 (21-23, 21-9, 15-12). Another three-set match went the Wolf Pack's way in the SMC match, as Madeline Corrall and Gabby Masiello won 21-18, 13-21, 15-10 at flight 1. 

 

Loyola's weekend in Montgomery continues early on Saturday, when the Wolf Pack play against Berry College (Ga.) at 8 a.m.
