Loyola Call of Duty ends streak Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – The undefeated Loyola Call of Duty squad entered Wednesday's match with a 4-0 record, taking on the also undefeated Clarke University team. In Wednesday night's match, the Wolf Pack fell to Clarke in a three-set contest, moving to a 4-1 record on the season. Now, the Wolf Pack are tied for second in the conference standings with Neumont Esports Team A with the final match of the regular season set for Wednesday, Nov. 8. On Tuesday, the Wolf Pack fell to Nichols College in Overwatch 2 in three sets. On Thursday night, the Smash Bros. Plus team fell to Ole Miss in a two-set match.
 

Next week, the Wolf Pack Overwatch team will play in the regular-season finale on Tuesday, Nov. 7 against the University of North Texas at Dallas at 6 p.m. The Loyola Call of Duty team will compete against Stone Child College in the final match of the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, Smash Bros. Plus will also compete in a final regular season match, taking on LSU Shreveport on Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. Overwatch 2, Call of Duty, and Smash Bros. Plus matches will be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@loynoesports. 
 

In Thursday's Smash Bros. match, the Wolf Pack fell in two sets to Ole Miss. The opposing Ganondorf took charge against the Pack, getting two straight wins over Evan Sakryd and Joaquin Vazquez. Leyton Gould managed a victory over Ole Miss' starter, 1-1. Then, one of the strongest characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in Pyra/Mythra eliminated Gould's Sonic. Daven-Angelo Montalbano took down the Xenoblade duo, 2-1, but fell to Ole Miss' Hero in the final fight of the first crew battle.
 

In the second crew battle, Hero continued to dominate for Ole Miss, taking down three Loyola fighters before falling to Montalbano's Toon Link, 1-1. Then, Ole Miss' Cloud ended the match by taking down Montalbano, securing the win for Ole Miss.
