Wolf Pack finishes Matt Dyas Invitational Tuesday

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's golf team finished the Matt Dyas Invitational well on Tuesday, playing the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament. Loyola stayed put on the team leaderboard to place fifth out of nine teams, shooting a 6-over, 294 in the third round. 
 

Loyola had a 40-over, 904 score for the tournament, as Union (+27), Delta State (+29), Mississippi College (+32) and West Georgia (+34) all finished ahead of the Pack. 
 

Preston Giroir was the highlight for the Wolf Pack, with the freshman earning his first career Top 5 finish. He placed in a tie for second individually, one shot behind the tournament winner with a 3-over, 219 three-round total. Giroir capped off the tournament with the low round of the day, 70, to move up six spots on the leaderboard. The Slidell, Louisiana, native had four birdies on his card during the final day of competition, adding two bogeys to get to his 2-under score. 
 

Giroir's tournament score will go down as the ninth-best 54-hole performance by a Wolf Pack golfer in program history. 
 

Logan Peterson helped the team's scoring with his best round of the tournament, finishing the week tied for 18th with a tournament score of 228 (+12). He shot a 2-over, 74 during the third round with four birdies and six bogeys on his card. Michael Bullock had the second-lowest round of the day for the Wolf Pack, shooting a 1-over, 73 to move up 10 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 25th with a three-round total of 231 (+15). He had three birdies and four bogeys to get to his score on Tuesday. 
 

Max Kukuk took 30th with a 232 (+16) tournament score and Cade Scarborough placed 49th with a 254 (+38). 
 

Next up for the Wolf Pack is the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Fall Invitational, which will be played at Windance Country Club in Gulfport, Mississippi, Oct. 30-31.
