Men’s golf plays 36 holes in Georgia Monday

CARROLLTON, Ga. – In a field of eight NCAA Division II teams, the Loyola men's golf team sits fifth out of nine after 36 holes at the Matt Dyas Invitational on Monday. Playing at Oak Mountain Golf Club, Loyola carded rounds of 311 and 299 during Day 1 of competition to finish 34-over and four strokes from fourth-place West Georgia. 
 

Union University has a big lead at the top of the leaderboard (+6), while Delta State (+22) and Mississippi College (+27) are in second and third. The third and final round will be played on Tuesday. 
 

Preston Giroir leads the Wolf Pack in a tie for eighth place on the individual leaderboard with rounds of 77 and 72. After his 5-over round in the morning, the freshman responded with an even-par round in the afternoon. His second round included three birdies and three bogeys to end the day 5-over after the two rounds, three strokes from the Top 5. 
 

Logan Peterson is next for Loyola in a tie for 22nd, carding rounds of 79 and 75. He picked up a birdie during his first round, then added three more in the afternoon to help him stay 10-over and three strokes from the Top 15. Max Kukuk had a string of bad luck during his first round but rebounded nicely in the afternoon with the team's second even-par round. His 11-over score has the freshman tied for 27th. 
 

Michael Bullock is 14-over and in a tie for 35th and Cade Scarborough is in 40th with a 16-over score.
