Facing its toughest competition yet, Mizzou took the first set thanks to the effort from its Ike character. Playing as Olimar, Anthony Nodolski was up first for the Wolf Pack and he took down the first Mizzou opponent, 3-2. Nodoski and Mizzou's Pokemon Trainer each took one stock before the Pokemon Trainer took another one, but Nodoski eliminated his competitor by winning two straight. In the next battle, Nodoski was able to take one stock from the Ike character, however, that Mizzou player punished Loyola by taking seven nine stocks to put Mizzou in a position to claim the first battle. Owen Salinas put up a good fight at the end of the set, though, winning four straight stocks from Ike and Sora to give the Pack a chance, but it wasn't enough in the end.Â

The second set was much closer, coming down to the last fighters, but Mizzou was still able to pull out the win. Nathan Long got things started as the Rosalina & Luna character, beating Mizzou's Luigi 3-1 to move on to the next battle. The next counterpart was Mario, and that fighter was able to knock down Long by taking his final two stocks. In the next battle, Anthony Nodolski used Olimar to take the final two Mario stocks, but Mario was able to win two stocks, too. Nodolski, however, battled tough against Sora in the next fight, pushing Sora over the edge twice before his final stock was taken. Ameer Joseph switched to Zelda for his second battle of the match, quickly eliminating Sora and taking one stock from Mizzou's best player, Ike, before being eliminated. As each team was down to their last players, Owen Salinas, playing as Luigi, had the one-stock edge, and after both won one stock, Ike was able to claim the last two from Salinas to win the match.Â
