GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule this week at the WCU Gulf Shores Invitational, playing at Peninsula Golf Club in lower Alabama. The Wolf Pack played the final of two rounds on Tuesday, carding a 307, which was the lowest score among the seven competing teams, to finish one stroke behind the team winner, William Carey, in second place with a two-round score of 620 (+44). 
 

Catherine Singletary and Emma Smithers led the team with Top 3 finishes, as Singletary placed second on the individual leaderboard with a 6-over, 150 score while Smithers carded a 9-over, 153 to finish in a tie for third overall. Singletary had a double bogey on her card early in her round, but two birdies and four pars helped her finish the first nine holes 1-over. During her second nine, the freshman moved between 2-over and 1-over a couple of times, finishing her second round with birdie-bogey-birdie-bogey scores to card a 74 (+2). Smithers started her round with a bogey and a birdie, but a double, a bogey and a birdie put the senior at 2-over after her first nine holes. Smithers played a consistent second nine, though, recording eight pars and a bogey to finish her 75 (+3) round. 
 

Blair McKenzie and Lainey Cristan both matched their first-round scores to make it four in the Top 10, as McKenzie shot a two-day score of 158 (+14) to finish in a tie for seventh and Cristan carded a 160 (+16) to finish ninth overall. McKenzie had nine pars and eight bogeys on her scorecard after 17 holes then a birdie on her final hole dropped her down to 7-over on the day. Cristan was 4-over after six holes to start her second round, but seven straight pars helped her scoring efforts en route to her 80 (+8) score. 
 

Aidan McLachlan made a move up the leaderboard, improving her second-round score by five strokes to place 12th with a 163 (+19) two-day score. The sophomore had a rocky start to her round, but back-to-back birdies during her second nine allowed her to card a 7-over, 79. Shelby Walls, who was playing as an individual, had a six-stroke improvement from the first round to the second, putting together a round of 84 to place tied for 23rd (174, +30). 
 

Loyola's next competition is set for Feb. 27-28.
