MARIETTA, Ga. – Things have been going well for the Loyola Wolf Pack volleyball team lately, and Friday was no exception. In their first of three straight road games, the Wolf Pack took down Life University in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) on Friday to extend their winning streak to seven with five regular-season games left on the schedule.

Loyola, which entered the day in third place in the Southern States Athletic Conference, is now 18-9 overall and 11-3 in league play. The team now sits 1.5 games behind second-place Blue Mountain College (12-1) and two games behind first-place William Carey (13-1) in the standings, and Loyola will play each team one more time down the final stretch of the season.

Loyola got off to a great start in the match by winning the first set 25-18.

Life started the second set well with four of the first six points won, but aces by Emily Sheperis and Rebecca LaCour then kills by Simone Tyson and Preslie Boswell helped give the Pack the 7-6 lead. The back-and-forth play continued as the set saw five ties and three lead changes before Loyola grabbed the lead for good, 10-9. Two attacks from Emma Fahy and an ace by Gracie Bailey kept Loyola ahead, 15-10, and Boswell got hot with a few kills to extend it to 21-16. Three errors down the stretch for Life helped give the Wolf Pack a 2-0 lead in the match.

Sheperis began the third set with consecutive kills to give Loyola a good shot at the sweep, and Tyson, Boswell and Amaya Bazemore kept things going a few points later to make it an 8-4 Loyola lead. The Running Eagles made a run to cut the score to two, 12-10, then they tied the set a couple of points later, 14-14. In total, Life used a 12-4 run to take a 17-15 advantage, but the Pack woke up to regain the 18-17 lead thanks to kills by Boswell and Bazemore, as well as a service ace from Tyson. Bazemore and Fahy made it a three-point lead, 22-19, and Sheperis helped finish things off with her seventh and final kill.
