Loyola New Orleans volleyball earns AVCA Team Academic Award

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Loyola University New Orleans indoor and beach volleyball teams have once again been recognized for their excellence in the classroom, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate volleyball programs that maintained a year-long team grade point average of 3.30 or higher during the 2025-26 academic year.
 

The Wolf Pack beach program earned a 3.653 GPA last academic year, and the indoor team posted a 3.559 mark. Those two GPAs were two of the highest GPAs in the Wolf Pack Athletics Department, which is made up of 22 athletic programs. 
 

The AVCA Team Academic Award has recognized volleyball programs across the country for their academic accomplishments since 1993, and 1,432 high school and collegiate programs were honored on Thursday. 
 

At the end of the 2025 season, Isis Harink and Alexa Palmer also picked up awards from the AVCA. Harink received AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors, and Alexa Palmer was placed on the All-Southeast Region Honorable Mention Team.
 

The Wolf Pack is set to open the season on Friday, Aug. 21, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the Onset Invitational. The team will play four matches on Friday and Saturday before coming back to New Orleans to host the Wolf Pack Welcome tournament Friday, Aug. 28, and Saturday, Aug. 29.
