Harink, Palmer receive AVCA honors

NEW ORLEANS – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released its end-of-season awards this month, honoring two Wolf Pack volleyball student-athletes in the process. Isis Harink received AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors, and Alexa Palmer was placed on the All-Southeast Region Honorable Mention Team. 
 

Prior to Harink's All-America announcement this week, she was also selected to the All-Southeast Region First Team and named Southeast Region Freshman of the Year earlier this month. The AVCA awards add to Harink's growing trophy case from her freshman season with Loyola, as she was also the SSAC Freshman of the Year and SSAC Attacker of the Year on top of being on the SSAC First Team All-Conference and SSAC All-Freshman Team. 
 

Palmer was also on the SSAC All-Conference First Team, and she earned a spot on the SSAC Championship All-Tournament Team. Academically, she received NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CSC Academic All-District honors. 
 

As a middle blocker, Harink led the Wolf Pack with 113 total blocks (0.88 per set), including 21 solo blocks. She was second on the team with 307 kills (2.38 per set), hitting a team-high .289 on 722 total attacks. Palmer paced the Loyola attack with 326 kills (2.43 per set) with a .276 hitting percentage on 775 total attacks. She also added 69 total blocks (0.51 per set). 
 

Loyola finished the season with a 29-9 overall record and a 12-4 SSAC mark. The team won the SSAC Championship for the first time in program history and made its second appearance in the NAIA national tournament in three years.
