NEW ORLEANS – Loyola showed out Thursday night in a win over Southern Mississippi, 2-1. After this week's win, the Wolf Pack add to their win total for a 4-2 record overall.

Nathan Long started the first set as Rosalina & Luma, facing USM's Mii Brawler. Long took Mii Brawler down to one stock before falling. Then, Ameer Joseph entered the fray as Bayonetta, taking down Mii Brawler with two stocks remaining. After downing Mii Brawler, Joseph was challenged by USM's Pikachu. After taking a hard-fought stock from Pikachu, Joseph's Bayonetta went down. Anthony Nodolski was next up for the Pack. As Olimar, Nodolski eliminated Pikachu, only dropping a single stock. Facing USM's hard-hitting Bowser proved to be a difficult matchup for Nodolski's Olimar, falling after taking a stock from USM. Owen Salinas, playing Luigi, came in for Nodolski and took down Bowser with ease, landing a zero-to-death combo. After dropping just one stock to Bowser, Salinas faced USM's Roy. Roy's range made it difficult for Salinas' Luigi to land his attacks. After a hard-fought set from the Pack, Salinas fell to USM's Roy, down 1-0.
In the second set, the Wolf Pack changed their order and started Salinas against USM's Bowser. In just 10 seconds, Salinas took down Bowser's first stock in another zero-to-death combo. Salinas made quick work of USM's Bowser, only losing one stock. USM's Pikachu was next to challenge Salinas. Just like the previous opponent, Salinas' Luigi took down all three of Pikachu's stocks, still standing with one stock. Once again, Salinas took down USM's next fighter in Mii Brawler. This time, Salinas managed to keep his stock, winning 3-0. USM's Lucina was next up to challenge Salinas' Luigi. After taking down three opponents, Salinas fell to Lucina, but not before taking a stock. Joseph was next in line, but USM's Lucina was a difficult matchup for Joseph's Bayonetta, winning 3-0. Nodolski was back for the second set as Olimar, taking down USM's Lucina, 2-1, and pushing the match to a third set.
To start the third set, Nodolski's Olimar took down Mii Brawler, winning 3-1. In a rematch, Nodolski fought USM's Bowser, taking a stock before falling, 2-1. Joseph's Bayonetta returned for the third set but was unable to defeat USM's Bowser, falling 3-1. Long's Rosalina & Luma returned to take down USM's Bowser's last stock, winning 1-0. USM's Pikachu was the next to challenge Long. Rosalina & Luma took Pikachu down to one stock before falling, 2-2. After his 10-stock run in the second set, Salinas came back to challenge Pikachu and take down his last stock, winning 1-0. In a final battle to take the match, Salinas took down USM's Lucina with ease, winning 3-1 and claiming victory for Loyola.
The Pack's next match is set to take place Tuesday at 6 p.m., and it can be watched on Loyola esports' Twitch channel.
