Wolf Pack earns eight third-place finishes on final day of SSAC Championships

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Loyola University New Orleans track and field produced eight third-place finishes Tuesday and nine entries for the new-era school record book at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships.
 

Earning bronze medals for the Wolf Pack women were Jenna Galeas in the 100-meter hurdles (16.36 seconds), Sela Myers in the 3,000 steeplechase (13:08.65), Jordyn Minor in the 100 (12.04), Taylor Smith in the javelin (36.62 meters/120 feet, 1 inch) and the 4x100 relay team of Kyli Baker, Tenosh Landry, Madison Reado and Minor (49.00).
 

The Loyola men got thirds from Jace Luckoski in the 1,500 (4:00.03), Connor Meigs in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:59.67) and the 4x400 relay team of Caleb Curry, Joseph Medina, Landon Dixon and Jermaine McGhee (3:21.20).
 

No school records were set, but the marks of Minor in the women's 100, Jacob Kennedy in the men's 5,000 (15:25.79), Luckoski in the men's 1,500, Jacob Mullis in the men's pole vault (2.60 meters/8 feet, 6 1/4 inches) and Richard Magann in the men's shot put (12.63 meters/41 feet, 5 1/4 inches) are No. 2 on Loyola's list of new-era (1996-present) outdoor performances.
 

Also entering the Loyola all-time lists were Jaden Thomas at No. 3 in the men's 100 (10.85) — he broke the school record in Monday's preliminaries — Meigs at No. 5 in the men's steeplechase, Myers at No. 3 in the women's steeplechase and Smith at No. 4 in the women's javelin.
 

Landry, a repeat SSAC champion Monday in the women's high jump, scored in three events Tuesday and led all Loyola athletes with 16 1/2 points. Leading the Loyola men was Luckoski with 13 points, including a fourth in the steeplechase. 
 

Loyola's women finished fifth out of eight teams with 81 points. The Wolf Pack men were sixth out of eight teams with 64 points. William Carey's women and Life's men repeated as team champions.
